We remove paint, stucco, and adhesive from new glass with a careful razor-and-solvent method, not brute force. The pane is first flooded with soapy water to float off grit that would otherwise scratch, then a fresh, sharp razor held at a low angle shaves paint specks and stucco splatter. Labels and adhesive come off with a citrus solvent, and the glass is finished streak-free with a squeegee. Tempered or coated glass is scraped with extra care or left to a non-abrasive method to avoid micro-scratching.
The order matters: scraping dry glass, or dragging a razor across trapped grit, is exactly how windows get hazed with fine scratches. Flooding first and keeping the blade fresh is what keeps a brand-new window looking new.
